According to healthline.com, 6.7 percent of US adults have a depressive episode in a given year. Are you one of them?
For me, the answer is yes. What does it feel like? It feels like a dark presence looming over my shoulder all the time, even when I’m acting happy and normal. It feels like an inability to complete my work even when I really need to for my own success. It feels like the world has turned dark shades of gray. It feels like nobody cares about me even though I know logically they do. It feels like a noose is constantly around my neck, and the urge to kick the chair out from underneath me is impossible to ignore.
There are happy times, sure. But they are fleeting in nature, only bringing short periods of relief before the darkness takes over again.
Does this sound like you? Then you may need to seek medical attention. Depression is no joke and can ruin, or even take, one’s life.
